Who the CSA® Certification Is For

Security officers and professionals establishing the recognised baseline in corporate security

The CSA® — Certified Security Associate — certifies the professional baseline across corporate security practice: physical security fundamentals, GSOC and control room operations, and corporate investigations.

It is built for security officers, GSOC, SOC and control room operators, site security staff, and professionals entering corporate security — and equally for experienced managers and directors who want the recognised baseline on record before progressing to specialist or management certification.

CSA® establishes competence at the professional baseline. As responsibility grows into systems, infrastructure and day-to-day operations, CSS® — Certified Security Specialist — is the next credential.

CSA® Eligibility Requirements

Experience 2 years of verifiable security experience
Responsibility Demonstrated operational responsibility within a security function
Certification training $500 — funded in full under the CorpSecurity 1-Million Mission
Certification examination $150, payable when you book your examination
Annual Maintenance Fee $75 per year, payable after you pass the examination and before your credential is issued — a single fee covering every CorpSecurity credential you hold

Qualifying experience includes corporate and physical security, military and law enforcement service, security systems and ELV, and facilities or HSE roles carrying security responsibility. Experience is assessed on functional scope and operational responsibility, not job title alone.

Advance Your Corporate Security Career with the CSA® Certification

The CSA® — Certified Security Associate — establishes the recognized professional baseline in corporate and physical security practice: physical security fundamentals, security operations, SOC functions, and corporate investigations.

It certifies that a professional holds the core knowledge, operational discipline, and judgment to perform effectively across modern security environments — turning unstructured field experience into formal, verifiable recognition.

The recognized baseline. A credential held across the profession, from security officers to directors, evidencing competence at the professional standard.

For every role. CSA® is taken by professionals at every level — by those establishing their standing early, and by experienced managers and directors who want the baseline on record.

Covered under the 1-Million Mission. Training and examination at no certification fee, as part of CorpSecurity's commitment to raising the professional standard globally.

A recognized pathway. CSA® holders progress to CSS® — Certified Security Specialist — and qualify for advanced certifications one year earlier.

Earning and Maintaining Your CSA® Credential

Passing the exam is the final knowledge checkpoint, but two additional steps are required to officially earn the CSA® designation and ensure its ongoing validity: the Certification Application (including the Annual Maintenance Fee) and Continuing Professional Education (CPE).

Step 1: The Final Application & AMF (Post-Exam Verification)

After successfully passing the CSA® exam, you must submit your final application for official award of the credential. This step validates your experience and finalizes your designation.

  • Application Submission: Submit your required documentation, including the signed Code of Conduct and proof of required work experience (minimum 2 years).
  • Annual Maintenance Fee (AMF): Payment of the first Annual Maintenance Fee is required to finalize your certification.
    • Fee: $75 USD (or equivalent in local currency).
    • Benefit: This is a single annual fee that covers the maintenance of ALL CorpSecurity International certifications you hold (CSA®, CSS®, CSI®, CSM®, CSD®, etc.).
  • Award: Once approved by the Certification Board and the AMF is paid, you are officially awarded the Certified Security Associate (CSA®) designation.

Step 2: Recertification and CPEs

To maintain the prestige and currency of your certification, you must adhere to the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program.

Requirement Detail
Certification Validity 3 years
Annual Requirement Pay the Annual Maintenance Fee (AMF) and earn/report a minimum of 15 CPE credits annually.
Total CPE Required 45 CPE credits total over the 3-year cycle.
Recertification The final recertification application (and validation of 45 CPEs) must be submitted once every 3 years to renew the credential.
Relevance All CPE activities must relate to the CSA® exam domains or the broader field of physical security.

Grace Period: You have a three-month grace period after your certification’s expiry date to complete the recertification process, but all 45 CPEs must have been earned within the original three-year cycle.
